Library

The Jeanne & Charles Vandenhove Foundation Library comprises a rare collection of over 5,300 volumes assembled by the couple over six decades.

It consists largely of publications on architecture and the fine arts, including essays, monographs, exhibition catalogues, encyclopaedias and journals, covering history, theory and criticism alike.

The library also holds works that accompanied Jeanne Belvaux in her various fields of interest, such as religions, theology, philosophy and literature.

A true record of their reading, the library implicitly paints an intellectual portrait of the couple. It reveals the architect’s career path, the development of her cultural outlook and the evolution of her influences. Each volume bears witness to a particular interest, period, area of research or source of inspiration, thereby revealing her approach to architecture and art.

The cataloguing was carried out under the supervision of GAR Archives d’architecture, which oversaw the coordination and standardisation of the documents.

The works may be consulted on site by prior appointment.
